The Author

This pilot has set her course now, though by the Lord's hand much can change in an instant. But at the beginning, I didn’t have the capabilities of determining my direction. The pull of my parents directed my floating through time and space, bringing me into contact with other things in their sphere of influence. Before I could even read, I remember them reading stories out loud to me with gripping enthusiasm. As I orbited around them, my imagination and curiosity were developed. Once the ability to read was discovered, the first propulsion from my engines began to alter my course.

Not long after that, I blasted off into deep space exploration of every book I could get my hands on. The collision with one book in particular completely altered my course through the stars. The story of Eragon was just what I’d been searching for at the time, and when I discovered that the author was eighteen and had been homeschooled, like me, it opened my mind to the possibility that I could write too. I began to probe deeper into the idea, but encountered delays and flight problems. Then my parents provided me with a guidance system for my search, the writing curriculum One YearAdventure Novel. With its help, I was able to avoid crashing into any asteroids to put an end to my quest.

At the end of my junior year of high school, I reached the glowing star of my first finished draft of a novel. Having done it once, a burning desire to do it again entered me and I started after another, but very different, blinding globe of gas. My guidance system also put me in contact with others who searched for the same thing as me. We were, and still are, able to share information and strengthen each other on our missions.

Now, a few years later, I’m embarking on a mission to upgrade my guidance system and travel range by taking a creative writing minor. Having new tools and databases to access will not only make my journey more fruitful, but it will allow me to discover more than just stars, but also comets, moons and super novas as I continue to move through the solar systems with the hope of impacting those whose paths I cross to the glory of my Savior.

Over and out,
